4 Follow-Up Emails Real Estate Agents Can Send This Week

Time for a bit of honesty around real estate follow-up emails…they are often uncomfortable…for everyone (both you and your real estate lead). They can be awkward, they often feel forced (for you to write and for them to read), and half the time you’re staring at your screen thinking, “Okay… but what am I even following up on?”.

And because of that, many excellent real estate leads slip through the cracks, and these lovely “follow-up” emails go straight to the trash. It’s not because the client was not interested in buying or selling, but it’s because that open-ended “I am following up” leaves people with no idea how to respond to you. It also makes your emails feel less genuine because readers know that you are just checking in for a reason, and that is to see if they are ready to convert. This can feel disingenuous.

As real estate agents, we aren’t always sure how to stay in touch in a way that feels natural (or valuable) enough to actually hit send. BUT the truth is, your follow-up emails just need to feel human and be helpful . No more, “Hey, just checking in :)” for the tenth time.

So here are four follow-up emails you can send this week even if you don’t have a magical reason to reach out.
(Seriously, these work any day of the year.)

Let’s make real estate follow-ups feel less cringe and more…doable.

#1: The Quick “Let me Share Something Useful” Email

This is the easiest email on the planet to send, and honestly, it’s usually the one that gets the best response.

It gives your clients a little insight, reminds them you’re paying attention, and doesn’t make you sound like a scripted autoresponder.

Template:

Hi ____,

I’ve been keeping an eye on the market this week and wanted to share something quick with you. We’re seeing ______ (ex: a few more listings popping up, more price adjustments, interest rates settling slightly), and it’s opening up a few opportunities worth paying attention to — depending on your goals.

No pressure at all to respond, but just keeping you in the loop so you feel informed when the time does feel right. If you ever want to talk through what this might mean for you, I’m here.

Hope you’re well,
Your name

WHY IT WORKS:

  • it’s short and actually helpful

  • it gives context without needing a reason

  • It does not put any pressure to convert on the lead

#2: The “I’ve Been Talking With Clients…” Email

Sharing what comes up in those conversations makes you feel relatable and knowledgeable without trying too hard.

Template:

Hi ____,

I’ve been chatting with a few clients this week about ______ (ex: prepping homes for spring, easy ways to increase value, what rate changes really mean right now), and I figured I’d pass along the same quick tip to you too.

Here’s the short version: _______.
Simple, but honestly… surprisingly helpful.

If you ever want examples or want me to walk you through it more, just let me know. I am always happy to help.

Take care,
Your name

WHY IT WORKS

  • Light, friendly, and rooted in real conversations

  • Gives value without sounding like a newsletter

  • Shows expertise in a very human way

#3 The Soft Touchpoint (with just a hint of value)

This is the perfect “I haven’t emailed them in a while and I need something gentle to send” email.
It includes zero pressure and zero awkward energy.

Template:

Hi ____,

Hope you’re having a good week. I was doing my morning MLS scroll (coffee in hand, of course) and noticed a couple things shifting lately. Even if you’re not actively looking right now, staying loosely aware of the market can make things feel a lot smoother when you are ready.

Here are two quick things I’ve noticed:

Nothing urgent — just thought it might be helpful to have on your radar. If you ever want something more tailored to your plans or neighborhood, I’m always here as a resource.

Warmly,
Your name

WHY IT WORKS

  • Gives you a natural reason to reach out

  • Feels genuine and relaxed

  • Clients appreciate the insight even if they don’t reply

#4: The “Homeowner Value” Email (No Market Talk Needed)

Perfect for any client — buyer, seller, renter, or longtime homeowner.
This keeps you relevant in a very low-key, thoughtful way.

Template:

Hi ____,

Hope you're doing well. I wanted to pass along a quick homeowner tip I’ve been sharing lately — a simple seasonal checklist that helps people stay on top of the little things (think: ______ or ______). These tiny tasks can make a surprising difference long-term.

Nothing time-sensitive, just something useful you can tuck away for when you need it. And if you ever want more personalized tips based on your home or your goals, I’m happy to help anytime.

Best,
Your name

WHY IT WORKS

  • It can be used on any type of client or lead

  • Useful without relying on market data

  • Warm, friendly, and memorable

So let’s sum it up…Your follow-up emails don’t have to be awkward and they don’t have to be long. They definitely do not need to sound like a script. Focus on creating the verbiage and honing in on a tone that sounds like you. If you use AI that is great, but make sure that it knows how you sound when you write and be sure to keep it sounding human.

If writing emails still feels overwhelming, I have a full set of ready-to-use real estate email templates in my shop — written in this same warm, conversational tone so you can stay consistent without reinventing the wheel each week.
